Meet The Paolita Team

Q

What is your role?

AP

Founder, Creative Director.

I founded this company back in 2010 because of my love for summer and anything related.

Whether it’s extensively researching museums, libraries and books for design inspiration or travelling to meet our wonderful teams at our European ateliers, I oversee the design aspect all the way through from concept to sketch and designing the prints for our garments.

My favourite thing is receiving our new collection for the first time and shooting our editorial in Greece.  It’s the most exhausting and rewarding time of the year.

Amongst all this, I’m always working closely with my amazing team, making sure we have an open dialogue in the way we run things and coming up with new and exciting business ideas.

It’s a never ending cycle of creativity, hard work and careful planning!

Q

What are your 3 favourite Paolita prints or products?

AP
  • Anything from the Peyote Collection from 2015. I think I didn’t sleep for a week whilst designing this. It’s probably one of the most complicated prints I have designed, but one that I love so much that I think I will revive it in the future.
  • The Samui Bikini from 2014, This colour combination with the pompoms just brings me endless joy when I look at it. I was so sad I never got to own this bikini as it sold out before I could get one for myself!  The print was inspired amazing Thai embroideries.
  • The Aquarius One Piece, 2016, Another one I never managed to own. All the elements, except for one were taken from ancient Hellenistic items found in my research in museums. The only part of the print I couldn’t resist was the frog which was inspired from the pre-colombian section at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. I sometimes like throwing in a sneaky inspiration that is out of context to my original theme.  This whole collection also tied in a lot of Art Deco references.
