This design features intricate geometric patterns and illustrations of Nelly’s figure, rendered in a stunning palette of blue hues. The patterns themselves are inspired by the geometric motifs that decorated the entrance of the Folies Bergère, a renowned Parisian institution known for its excess and extravagance during the Belle Epoque era.

Marrying many of the dreamlike surrealist tropes of Magritte’s work with the wider influences of the collection, the design draws inspiration from the historic posters created for the transgressive Parisian institution, Folies Bergere, reworking the smoke-like illustrations used to frame images of the performers in a poster from 1902.

Embracing the Spirit of Cubist and Abstract Art Movements of the early 20th Century, the Tainted Love Print is a Stunning Representation of Wild Energy and Creative Expression through Swirling Brushstrokes and Exaggerated Forms. This print captures the essence of geometric prints seen in women’s fashion during the 1920s reimagined in a vibrant display of bold, free-flowing colour.

Inspired by the surrealist art movement and the works of Salvador Dali, the Kaleidoscope Eyes print is a whimsical tribute to the artist’s fascination with eye motifs. Dali’s surrealist fantasies often featured eyes, which he saw as a symbol of the inner self and the power of the subconscious mind. This print is an homage to his repeated use of eyes throughout his work, and the exploration of the transgressive art of the early 20th century.

The Heartbreaker print is a surreal and intricate design that takes us back to the essence of the surrealist art movement. Designed off the back of endless lockdowns, the interlocking hands that feature prominently in the print symbolise the power of touch and connection.

The La Folie print is a visual spectacle that captures the essence of the Belle Epoque era and the vibrancy of Parisian nightlife. The print features images of Nelly dancing in the Acropolis, a nod to the transgressive spirit of female artists in the early 20th century.

The geometric patterns that feature throughout the print, take inspiration from the murals which adorned the entrance to the Folies Bergère, an iconic Parisian institution of the Belle Epoque era. The print embodies a spirit of playfulness, vivacity, and joy, reflecting the exuberance and extravagance of the era.

The Ballet Mecanique prints reflect elements from the expressionist art movement where swirling, swaying, and exaggeratedly executed brush- strokes were used to represent the wild energy of the world as the artists viewed it, rather than how it truly was.

Our latest print, “Shifting Sands,” is a celebration of the vibrant and joyous spirit of the 1920s. The print features wave-like forms in bright reds, turquoises, and blues, which almost mimic the appearance of party streamers. The energetic movement and bold colors of the print capture the essence of the roaring twenties, a time of social and cultural revolution, and a newfound sense of freedom.

The early 20th century saw a burst of creativity in the art world, and the cubist movement led by artists like Mondrian and Picasso was at the forefront of this revolution.

The vibrancy of their art was a true celebration of playfulness, and it’s this spirit that has inspired the solids designs.
